Fighting Allergies With Yoga Decoded

Many people get allergies today. It is due to the pollution at times, and also due to internal body issues. There are people, who get allergies, while travelling, and there are others, who get allergies while sitting at home. You can blame the later conditions on mold, mildew, and dust which is present in all homes. The weather also plays with health most of the time, as constant changes in humidity and heat can wreak havoc on the skin, and cause skin allergies.

In this blog, you will learn what causes allergies and how you can address them. Any properly facilitated Yoga Pose for Allergies is also quite beneficial. However, you need to take out adequate time, to experience the same as well. Before venturing forward, let us find out what cause allergies, at first.

Causes Of Allergies

The body has a natural response system, that generates antibodies, when foreign objects or micro-organisms try to invade it. It helps provide protection from illnesses. Immunoglobulin E, also known as IgE, which is produced in response to intrusions, aids in combating various allergies. Some foods also cause the same reactions in the body, that eventually leads to allergies. The body’s immune system has the power to remember such incidents of intrusions and subsequent allergies. You will find many people suffering from allergic symptoms, like sneezing, coughing, and chest congestion.  Allergies can also be inherited. If you have a family history of allergies, there are high chances that you will develop them as well. Peanuts, shrimps, and lobsters also cause allergies in a few people.

Decoding the Best Yoga Pose for Allergies

Yoga has several advantages on the human body. These range from increasing flexibility, balance and reduction of stress. However, it does not stop at that. You can also get relief from allergies. Here are a few yoga poses, which will help in the opening and closing of airways, so that you can breathe in a better manner. It is very important, that you focus on your breath, while doing the yoga poses. Be mindful, when you are opening your lungs and when you are exhaling.

You should read about the below poses, which can give relief from allergies.

  • Camel Pose –Also called the Ustrasana, in Sanskrit, you must practice this asana on a regular basis. It is quite renowned as a chest opener and shoulder opener. You often slough at work and while walking. It is something that we do unmindfully. However, you can get a bad posture, apart from reducing the lung cavity space. You can rectify this issue, by practicing the Camel pose. The pose also opens the rib cage space. You have to kneel down, with the knees placed apart. After you are comfortable in this pose, roll the shoulders down and backwards. Feel the tail bone being sucked into the navel area. Slide the arms by rotating them from the shoulder cavities, and hold the ankles. Your torso should be in arched position. The neck will be in neutral position. You can hold the pose, which resembles the hump of a camel. Breathe out slowly, and come back to the original position. You can also place a cushion below the knees, if you feel excess pressure. This is an excellent pose, which helps to open the lungs and chest muscles. So, you may get relief from Allergic Rhinitis like allergies.
  • Inverted Poses or asanas –You can try a few inverted poses like Sarvangasana or Sirshasana. When the head is at the lowest position, you can actually help in the drainage function from your sinuses. It helps to circulate fresh blood into the sinus cavities. However, if you have just started with yoga, you must hold the pose for 5-10 seconds. You can also try the simpler legs-up-on-the-wall pose, or the Viparit Karani asana. You will get loads of additional benefits, apart from the ones listed above. You will also be treating issues such as insomnia.
  • Downward Facing Dog Pose –It is yet another pose, which you can do today. You basically have to be on all fours in this asana. The buttocks will be high up in the air, and the body will resemble a V-shape. You may feel at first, that there is excess pressure on the sinuses, but you will eventually get a lot of relief. It can actually help in the release of mucus trapped in the nasal passages. You have to breathe deeply, while doing this pose. After, you are done, you can come up slowly.

These are the best yoga poses, that you can try today.  Apart from the above Yoga Pose for Allergies, there are other kriyas, as well. You can head to one of the best yoga schools in Rishikesh and engage in yoga practices.

Pranayama For Allergy Relief

  • Nadi Shodhana –It is also quite popular as Alternate Nostril breathing. In this, you have to block one nostril and breathe in and out through a single one. Alternating between the two usually has a very soothing effect on the nasal passage and the lungs in general.

If you have a stuffy nose, due to the allergies, you must unblock the nose and discharge the mucus, before beginning. You can also try this, after a few rounds of the Skull Shining kriya or Kapalbhati.

  • Bhramari Pranayama –It is another breathing technique, which is worth mentioning. You have to take on the Shambhavi mudra with the fingers. Then, close the mouth and inhale through the nostrils. While exhaling through the nostrils, you have to create a buzzing sound, like that of the bees. This helps to unblock the head and throat. You will get a lot of relief from allergies, if you do this on a regular basis.

These are a few kriyas, apart from the yoga poses that we talked about before. Yoga has many holistic activities, that if practiced can help you to cure various ailments. These are just a few, which have been mentioned above.

Megan200 Hour YTTC

This was definitely one of the best experiences I ever had in my entire life. I did the 200 hour yoga teacher training course during the month of December. Living Yoga School is located on the top of a hill from which you can enjoy the view of beautiful mountains (perfect for meditation especially at sunrise/sunset). The entire staffs are so friendly, helpful and approachable. The teachers are simply amazing and so knowledgeable! I felt part of the family from the very beginning. I would sincerely recommend coming here not only for teacher training course but also to live an experience that will change your life! I cannot wait to join for the 300 hour yoga instructor coaching course! You guys are the best! See you soon!

I did my 200 hour and 300 hour yoga teacher training course in Rishikesh at Living Yoga School. Very good experience during my stay. Rooms, accommodation, food and view from the top are excellent. Most experienced teachers in this school. It is the best place to become yoga instructor. If anyone wants to seek the knowledge of yoga, I recommend them to join Living Yoga School.

I choose Living Yoga School because it was because it was in Rishikesh the yoga capital of the world and it's quite a peaceful little town, none of the chaos and scary atmosphere that people warn me about in India. I was able to walk by myself on the streets and nothing ever happened, I always felt safe during my stay.

Our Student Testimonial

I choose the school was because of its complete schedule. Not only focused on yoga but also Pranayama, mediation, anatomy, mantra chanting and ayurveda. All these classes packed into 3 weeks of intense studying and yoga practicing which made me feel I got much more than what I paid for. If you are looking for a complete course this is the one I recommend.

I recommend Living Yoga School for 200 hour holistic yoga course. My teachers were for the most part very dedicated and passionate, really caring about us as students. It was difficult to get up early every morning but because classes were so interesting and the teacher so passionate I got up early everyday because I didn't want to miss a thing.

Rishikesh Review

Carmen200 Hour YTTC

The 200h YTT Course with Living Yoga School has been much more then expected at all levels. I want to say a big THANK YOU to the whole team, thank you to Guruji for opening the whole world of the Himalayan tradition of Yoga to us, the fantastic philosophy classes and meditation teachings, the connection and support I could feel. Thank you so much to Devesh for being such a competent, supportive and motivating teacher, for sharing not only hatha yoga and alignment knowledge but also knowledge of life and for sharing with us what really means to be a good yoga teacher. I can´t wait to go to Rishikesh and learn with them in person. In this almost 2 months process I started to see clearer into myself and make some important changes in my everyday life, developing more awareness, focus, discipline and joy. I was at first sceptical about an online format, but since the beginning I was really impressed with the online live teaching, the communication, the way everyone was supportive and experienced as well as the quality of the recorded material: so much knowledge and everything so well explained. I could write much more about how inspiring the whole experience was and how much will positivly influence my practice and the understanding of myself. I recommend this School to everyone!
